Description
Cefixime 100mg Tablets is a cephalosporin antibiotic that is used to treat bacterial infections affecting the lungs, throat, and urinary tract – the kidneys, bladder, ureters, or urethra. It is also used to handle a sexually transmitted infection caused by Neisseria gonorrhea bacteria that affects both men and women. This tablet works by stopping the growth of bacteria responsible for the infection but doesn’t work efficiently on the infections caused by viruses.
Sometimes the drug is also used to handle sinus infections in penicillin-allergic patients, pneumonia, shigella, and typhoid fever. Moreover, cefixime is a broad-spectrum antibiotic which means it is active against a wide variety of bacteria. Being an effective drug combination, cefixime may cause diarrhea, Nausea, Stomach pain, Indigestion, Diarrhea, and in some cases can be severe.
Precaution:
Cefixime tablet should be taken with some precaution to avoid any severe side-effects or to get maximum benefits which include the following:
- If you are a patient having kidney or liver diseases then you should consult your doctor before taking the tablet.
- Avoid prolonged use of the medication in case you are breastfeeding as it can cause side-effects to breastfeed the baby.
- Don’t chew, or crush the tablet, swallow it as a whole.
